19 different partner systems currently linked to MBO folding machines / New implementations using MIS from Simutek (GKS), Technique Group and GamSys / Seamless JDF workflow thanks to MBO Datamanager / Leading position in the integration matrix of the CIP4 consortium
MBO is making it easier than ever to integrate folding machines into the JDF workflow: Equipped with the MBO Datamanager software, the folding machines can be linked seamlessly to the widest variety of management information systems (MIS), irrespective of the manufacturer. This approach has now enabled the integration of MBO folding machines into systems supplied by Swedish MIS supplier Simutek (GKS), the British Technique Group and French company GamSys. As a result, MBO has now implemented connections to 19 different partner systems. Among the members of the CIP4 consortium, which is dedicated to the ongoing development of the JDF specifications, MBO holds a commanding position in the finishing sector (www.cip4.org/matrix/intro.php) – with further projects already in the pipeline. MBO Datamanager guarantees the seamless exchange of data with the MIS at all times.
Transferring folding data directly
This type of connection is particularly interesting for fully automated folding machines; after all, three out of every four MBO folding machines sold in Western Europe are already availing of the comprehensive possibilities offered by powered pre-setting. In this way, folding data can be sent directly from the costing or from the sales department to the folding machine, which then automatically adjusts all settings for the particular order. This results in a further dramatic reduction in setup times at the folding machine and virtually eliminates errors caused by manually entered data. Furthermore, in order to optimize the JDF connection, MBO folding machines not only allow automatic adjustment of buckle plates, foldrollers and slitter shafts in parallel folding. Automation options are also available for feeders, register tables and sidelays. The K 800 Perfection combi folder even provides for the automation of the entire knife-fold area. By integrating their folding machines into the JDF workflow, some MBO users (in conjunction with full automation) have succeeded in boosting productivity by up to 100 percent. A further benefit to users is that they remain highly flexible when it comes to their investment decisions. They can select the MIS that best suits their needs without having to sacrifice any of the options for communicating with their MBO folding machines.
