　　On behalf of Pakistan Association of Printing & Graphic Art Industry I am thankful to the organizers of this International Exhibition for providing an opportunity to address this auspicious gathering of the printing & packaging experts, technologists and business leaders from all over the world.

　　Pakistan with a population of over 176 Million stretched over 803,940 square  kilometers having frontiers with China, India, Afghanistan and Iran is one of the swiftly developing countries of the region. Before the beginning of the recent global recession GDP growth was very promising. However, the global recession has also impacted Pakistan economy but with the timely review of fiscal and monitory policies by our government, impact has been minimized and the economy has started regaining. Indicators are very encouraging and we are very optimistic to regain the momentum of the economy, which was there in the recent past. 

　　Through the evolutionary process various industries of Pakistan have grown to international standards. Printing & Packaging Industry is one of the developed industries of Pakistan and can be compared with any industry of Asia and Europe. Since per capita consumption of Paper & Paperboard products was one of the world’s lowest consumption levels, therefore, rapid growth in GDP resulted into double digit growth in consumption of Packaging Materials. Keeping in view the growing demand of branded and packed products Printing & Graphic Arts Industry of Pakistan has made huge investments in this sector by installing state of the art latest equipment for offset, gravure and flexo printing. Latest models of world renowned brands in pre press, print press and post press equipment are operating in the Industry.

　　Historically Printing & Graphic Arts Industry of Pakistan was relying only on the European origin plants & equipments because of their quality, reliability and metallurgy. However, in the recent past industry has started trying Far East origin machines especially Die cutting and Roto-gravure machine for flexible packaging in particular. I would like to thank and congratulate the producers of Industry related machines and equipments from Far East origin and China in particular for providing economical solutions to the Printing & Graphic Arts Industry of Pakistan.

　　Since for Packaging Industry basic raw material is quality Paper & Paperboard and Packaging Industry with out back up of strong sources of Paperboard can not grow comfortably. I feel pride in sharing that Paper & Paperboard Industry of Pakistan is equipped with the latest plants for Duplex Board, superior quality papers and container boards to meet current and future needs of Printing & Graphic Arts Industry for quality inputs of international standards. 

　　I would like to share that Industry of Pakistan has a lot of potential for expansion in Printing & Packaging sector in particular. I invite the producers of industry related equipment to explore business potential and enter into long term business ties with Pakistan market.
