Christchurch firm CQ Print has become the first printer in New Zealand to install a Konica Minolta Bizhub Press C8000.

CQ director and co-owner Dave Parsons said the CQ team assessed their options in the wake of the Canterbury earthquake and decided the press would deliver the quality, performance and reliability required to enable the firm to expand its digital print offerings.

Despite the widespread regional devastation, Parsons said his company was investing to ensure it could meet the needs of its existing diverse clientele while also exploring new markets.

He added that the prompt installation of the press and recommencement of operations at CQ has enabled the company to again make a positive contribution to the economy.

Konica Minolta has reported that the first New Zealand shipments of the 80ppm C8000 have already been pre-sold, with subsequent consignments understood to be "selling quickly".
