Catalogue and brochure printer Orchard Press has made its first hardware investment in nearly three years in an MBO folder from Friedeim.

The Tewkesbury-based company, which last invested in equipment when it bought a 10-colour Speedmaster in late 2006, has now installed an MBO B30 machine.

According to Orchard's Bob Williams, father of managing director Adrian Williams, the machine has allowed it to offer additional services and improve turnaround times.

He said: "This has been a good move for us. We can do more folds, quicker and more efficiently. We have increased our capacity, especially with our section work. The old machine was great, but it was worn out."

Over the past three years Orchard Press has been concentrating on its software investments, as well as working with Heidelberg on a new ink standard, which is expected to be launched soon.

The company has a £2m turnover and 13 staff.
